about
My first ever Christmas song. It is partly an expression of my Christian faith and a meditation on the different journeys we can take in life. The song uses the story of the wise men following the Christmas star to reflect on the difficult year that many of us have had in 2020. It invites the listener to consider what journey they might be on right now. It is also a reminder to me of how important tolerance and kindness is, particularly at a time when it has seemed in short supply. All profits raised from the sale of this track up to the end of January 2021 were donated to GARAS, a charity that supports refugees and asylum seekers in Gloucester. Thanks to everyone who kindly donated.
lyrics
When I look out the window today.
I see a world so full of greed and pain.
So open up your human hearts and let us start again.
And pray.
We're so glad he came.
And even though we've travelled far it's never too late to follow the star. And pray.
We're so glad he came.
As a babe, he came to take away the need for fear or shame.
So lift your eyes to the light of the flame and let your hearts feel warmth again.
And pray.
We're so glad he came.
And even though you've travelled far on rafts to flee the wars afar we say, we're so glad you came.
We, three kings of orient are, bearing gifts we traverse afar and pray, we're so glad he came.
And even though we've travelled far, it's never to let to follow the star. And pray.
We're so glad he came, we're so glad he came.
Oh holy night the stars are brightly shining
I pray.
I'm so glad he came
